Dutch Tiles of the 17th and 18th century are amongst the most popular products of Dutch applied art. Developing from imported Italian and Spanish majolica ware, they soon acquired their own characteristic features and were in turn exportes east and west through Europe. They are found to this day not only in Dutch farmhouses but also in palaces in Britain, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Portugal and even as far as Recife in Brazil. Over 400 illustrations, of which 154 are in color provide a rich source for comparison and consultation.
