It served to promote colonial economic interests, scientific research, and public education on the Dutch colonies, aiming to strengthen trade and train civil servants. The publication outlined a vision to further solidify the institute as a leading center for specialized knowledge on tropical regions, expanding education, and, through its museum collections, supporting colonial expansion and administration.
