Edith Tudor Hart; The eye of conscience

It was Edith Tudor Hart’s awareness of social conditions and her feelings for her fellow human beings which influenced her life and her art. Her later work was mainly with children, in education and in the social sciences. Her contribution to Picture Post and other magazines made her name well known. She wrote of photography, “the profession is one eminently suited to women. Technical skill is essential, but to my mind, the qualities of intuition and ability to understand and get on with people, as well as creative and artistic imagination, are even more important.”
