The Job and the Tools” describes the planning, construction and wartime service of key Royal Netherlands Navy ships built just before the German invasion, including cruisers, destroyers, submarines, minelayers and the gunboat Van Kinsbergen, with technical data, illustrations and line drawings presented in an accessible, narrative style. The book also highlights the organization and ambitions of the Dutch shipbuilding industry before and after the Second World War, showing how these ships and their builders contributed to Dutch naval power up to 1960.
