Dutch artist Manon van Kouswijk has been making design and jewellery since 1995. In her work she focuses on the value and meaning of jewellery and domestic objects. She works in diverse media, ranging from wearable pieces to artists books, ceramics and textiles to stationary and other works on paper. Alongside making classical jewellery pieces, she became increasingly interested in other types of archetypal objects. This exhibition catalogue shows a new series of porcelain necklaces and a selection of pearl necklaces created in the last 15 years. She has also collected pictures in which the phenomenon of the pearl necklace is evident. Her collection is photographed by Uta Eisenreich. Includes an essay by Marjan Unger on The Beaded Necklace.
