Historically, the Chicago & North Western Railway (CNW) and Union Pacific (UP) formed a seamless partnership, interchanging in Council Bluffs/Omaha to run high-speed luxury “Streamliner” services. Iconic trains like the City of San Francisco, City of Los Angeles, and Overland Limited departed Chicago, traveling west through Omaha before branching toward coastal destinations.
